Know of anyone looking for fun and meaningful volunteer opportunities? We have a variety of volunteer positions open and are looking for enthusiastic and committed volunteers. We have a special need for volunteers to help with shopping and/or chores. Most volunteers can plan on 1-2 hours per week, or every other week. Summer is a great time to find a service activity!

Interested? Visit our volunteer page or call (763) 552-9727 to learn more about what you can do to help us serve local seniors.

We are excited to feature a new article by Erv Skaar in our senior writings section, entitled "Isanti County 4-H History." Click here to read Erv's historical record of local 4-H clubs. His detailed list is a great piece of history. Maybe you or someone you know is mentioned!

Old News: May, 2010

Older Americans Month

May is Older Americans Month. This is a great time to think about the issues that are important to seniors in our community, and to honor them for all that they have done. According to the Administration on Aging, the theme this year is "Age strong! Live long!" We think this is a great motto for the month of May and for our Cart to Cupboard program.

Do you like to garden, or do you know someone who does? Cart to Cupboard has reserved a raised-bed plot in the Cambridge Community Garden. We are looking for gardeners who want to help us grow delicious vegetables in our garden this summer. Volunteers can help decide what to plant and will share in the harvest with our customers!

Volunteers can plant and care for their own items in a private zone of our plot, or help take care of the garden in general. The bed is elevated to make for easier access for all ages, and tools are provided at the garden site. This is a low-impact gardening opportunity for those who do not have the space, supplies, or strength to garden in a personal garden. It's also a way to share healthy, locally-grown foods with our customers, some of whom otherwise have limited budgets for fresh produce. It's a fun way to get outside this summer, enjoy a favorite hobby, help the environment, and support Cart to Cupboard. We are excited about this project. Now is a great time to plant, so contact us to schedule some time in our garden!

April was National Volunteer Month. We are very thankful for our many volunteers and their commitment to our mission.

We are looking for new volunteers this summer as we recently surpassed our customer goal. There are many ways in which volunteers of all ages can get involved. Visit our volunteer page to learn about opportunities for you or your group. We'd love to work with you!

As of our May update, we are 37% of the way to our goal of 2,000 volunteer hours. Way to go!

Old News: April, 2010

We had a great time at the 2010 Isanti Home Show on March 27 and 28. We received $933 from visitors which will allow us reach more Isanti County seniors with our services. We also collected 489 food items for the Isanti County Food Pantry (located in First Baptist Church in Cambridge). Special thanks to the Home Show organizers for their help, to the volunteers who spent time at our table, and to all Home Show attendees for their support!

Couldn't make it to the home show but still want to support our mission? Click here to find out how to make a donation to Cart to Cupboard. We and our customers thank you for your commitment to independent living.

Check out our new Cart to Cupboard informational video on the home page! In the video, customers and ICCOA member Jean Froemming talk about what Cart to Cupboard has done for them and other local seniors. Learn more about how Cart to Cupboard works and what we do.

If you would prefer to watch in a separate window on a different page, click here. You may want to let the video load for a few minutes before watching, depending on the speed of your internet connection. If you would like a DVD copy of the video to share with someone you know, contact us.

Thanks to everyone who appeared in the video and helped out behind the scenes!
